On the evening of April 16th, Zhu Jigao, vice dean, professor and doctoral supervisor of the International Business School of the University of International Business and Economics, was invited to give a lecture on "Case Studies in Accounting, Finance and Auditing". The lecture was chaired by Professor Xia Ning, head of the department of financial Accounting of the Business School, Lecturer He Ding and graduate students of various disciplines attended the lecture.
The lecture was organized in five parts: Statistics of case studies published in the field of accounting and finance, Ministry of Education's support policy on cases, introduction of case study methodology, case studies: From good stories to good theories, look for break-event point in teaching and research in business cases.
First, Professor Zhu Jigao reviewed the case study papers published in well-known journals at home and abroad and analyzed the development status of case study in the field of finance and auditing. At the same time, it introduces the support policy of the Ministry of Education to case studies and encourages students to actively participate in case studies in related fields.
Next, Professor Zhu Jigao explained the case study method from the three aspects of "why, what and how", emphasizing that high-quality research questions should be important, novel, interesting, appropriate in scope and implementable. In combination with his collaborative paper "Research on Digital Transformation and Financial Control Innovation -- An Exploratory Case Analysis based on State Grid", From the seven aspects of "determine the research question -- determine the case object -- design the interview outline -- conduct field research and interview -- sort out and code the research data -- form the backbone logic and the general conceptual model of the article -- write and modify the paper", the paper describes in detail the formation process of the idea of the paper, emphasizing that the theoretical framework diagram and literature summary diagram should be formed in the writing process.
Finally, Professor Zhu Jigao shared how to find break-event point in teaching and research in business cases and proposed a "four-in-one" talent development model based on business cases, namely, case study, case development, case teaching, and case competition. I hope that students will standardize the case study in the future study, and more dialogue with the literature, in the case study in the spring of the story of Chinese enterprises!
