In order to fully draw on the experience of the dual-degree and mixed-degree talent training program in fraternal colleges and better plan to promote the preparation of the "Law + Economics" dual-degree talent training program, March 28-30, 2024, Professor Xiong Jinwu, vice dean of the Business School, Xiong Chai, associate professor of the Department of Economics, and Chen qiming, vice director of the Institute of Corporate History, went to the School of Economics of Southwest University of Political Science and Law to investigate. The research team met with Professor Chen Gang, Dean of School of Economics, Professor Liu Lingling, Vice Dean, Professor Gao Hao, Head of the Department of The international economic and Trade, responsible person of the Double Degree Program of "Law + The international economic and Trade", and Associate Professor Wang Tao, responsible person of the Double Degree Program of "Law + Finance", Associate Professor Li Yongkui, Head of the Department of digital economy, Associate Professor Lu Yao, Head of the Department of Economics, and Lin Lei, Deputy Head of the Department of Finance, and some students held many seminars.
The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on talent development issues such as enrollment, curriculum, training plan, and academic system. In July 2019, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council issued "the Administrative Measures for the Authorization and Granting of bachelor’s Degrees" (Degree [2019] No. 20), which required that the dual-baccalaureate and compound talent training programs "should have the right to grant doctor's degrees and belong to two different disciplines." Southwest University of Political Science and Law quickly launched the application for the "Law+" double degree program. From 2020 to 2023, it applied for three consecutive years and successfully implemented eight "Law+" double degree programs. Each program enrolls 40 students in a year, and the number of enrollments is from law majors. The daily management of the students is arranged in the college of law other than the double-degree program. In December 2022, the teaching steering committee of the undergraduate interdisciplinary talent cultivation program is set up to take charge of the "law +" double-degree program, with the vice president in charge as the director. The Director of the Academic Affairs Department shall serve as the Deputy Director, the Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Department, the Vice Deans in charge of teaching of relevant law schools, and the leaders of the dual-degree programs shall serve as the members. Among them, the two double degree programs of "Law + Finance" and "Law + The international economic and Trade" of the School of Economics will be applied for in 2020 and will be approved for implementation in 2021 (second batch) and 2022 (third batch) respectively.
The admission scores of the "Law + Finance" and "Law + The international economic Trade" programs of the School of Economics of Southwest University of Political Science and Law rank among the top in the whole university, which have significantly promoted the undergraduate enrollment work of the whole university. The system of 1 + 1 + 1 cooperation tutors is implemented in the school and outside the school. The arrangement of external legal tutors can also guide the direction of law, which is welcomed by students. From the view of centralized practice and students' independent practice, the compound talents are generally well received by the employers, which meets the needs of economic and social development.
The two sides agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the future and jointly promote collaborative work on talent cultivation. This investigation has strengthened the communication between the fraternal colleges, understood the situation of compound talent cultivation in the School of Economics of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and provided valuable experience for the reform and development of talent cultivation projects in our college.
