The 7th National Management Case Elite Competition 2019 (North China Division 2 Elimination)successfully held by the University with 2 Teams Promoted to the National Finals

Carrying out enterprise investigation and research with case analysis and examining teaching with actual practice. On July 14, 2019, the 7th National Management Case Elite Competition (North China Division 2 Elimination) was grandly held in multifunctional lecture hall of Research Building at China University of Political Science and Law, co-sponsored by the National Committee for Postgraduate Education in Business Administration, China Management Case Sharing Center, the China Management Case Center Alliance and Management Case Research Committee of China Management Modern Research Society, and the University MBA Education Center.

A total of 13 teams from Beijing University of Science and Technology, Capital University of Economics and Trade, Chinese Academy of Sciences University, China University of Mining and Technology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences University, China University of Political Science and Law, Central University of Finance and Economics, focusing on the competition theme of “Donge Ejiao: how time-honored brand generates new blooms”, ran for promotions by case analysis and live demonstration., Finally, Team 2 from Beijing University of Science and Technology and Team 2 from China University of Political Science and Law made it to the national finals.

The panel of judges is chaired by Professor Jin Rungui, Dean of the International Business School of East China Normal University. The judges are: academic judge, Professor Xu Hui, Nankai University Business School, Member of the Program Committee of the International Forum on China Business Management Case Studies, Member of the China MBA Case Sharing Center; academic judge, Professor Xia Jiansheng, Director of MBA Center, Zhejiang University of Technology; academic judges, Professor Zhu Xiaolin, Vice Dean of School of Business Administration, Liaoning University of Science and Technology; enterprise judge, Mr. Yu Bo Vice president of Jiangsu Venture Capital Association, President Sumin Venture Investment Co., Ltd. Professor Liu Jipeng, Dean, School of Business, China University of Political Science and Law, and Mr. Yang Jie, Vice Dean of the  School also attended the event.

Prof. Liu Jipeng, on behalf of the faculty and students of the Business School of China University of Political Science and Law, delivered an opening speech and warmly welcomed the arrival of the guest judges and the teams participating in the competition. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the guest judges, members of the organization and the tutors of the teams who had greatly contributed to the competition and wished it a full success. As he noted, case competition plays an important role in Chinese business schools, especially in MBA education. Only through practical exercises can students really achieve the purpose of making study serve the practical purpose. In 2017, China University of Political Science and Law set up the first Council, where some specialties and experts from financial securities, entrepreneurs from state-owned and private sectors were invited into the classroom to promote the integration of finance and industry. Then, the School of Business conducted related teaching reforms, adhering to the principle of “one main body and two wings”, with innovation to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents by integrating business administration with law and business. MBA education is in great need for case-based teaching system, and in this context, the Competition held by the University is of great significance so as to promote such teaching for the school.

Attending Teams

Every two teams rivaled with each other on the case of Donge Ejia company in two sessions, which examines their comprehensive ability of case analysis, general knowledge and perspective extension, etc. Contestants focused on brand upgrading, innovative marketing, product development and operation with tool of SWOT analysis, competitive research, data comparison and other methods to analyze the current situation and future development prospects of Donge Ejiao company, including its industrial analysis, brand strategy interpretation, and its brand cultivation, industry extension, health management and value-added services based on charts and data. During the first session, the rival teams demonstrated their respective presentations and responded to the questions raised by their counterpart team; during the second session, each team promptly and concisely responded to the judges and audiences. Their performances were well received by all present.

Professor Jin Rungui, Dean, International Business School, East China Normal University

Professor Jin Rungui, Chairman of the panel of judges and Dean of the International Business School of East China Normal University, announced the results and briefed on the competition and contestants. He deemed that the theme of the Competition actually includes some professional knowledge, MBA students should conduct analysis based on what they’ve learned in a selective and targeted manner, and build up team confidence so as to play well on the stage. He also expressed good wish for their better achievements in competitions alike.

After fierce competition, Team 2 from Beijing University of Science and Technology (92.87 points) won the Champion; Team 2 from China University of Political Science and Law (92.13 points), Team 1 with Chinese Academy of Sciences (91.2 points) won the 2nd Place; Team 1 with Beijing University of Science and Technology (90.97 points), Team 2 with Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (88.9 points), Team 1 with Central University of Finance and Economics (87.63 points), Team 2 with the Central University of Finance and Economics (88.23 points) won the Third Place, Team 2 with the Capital University of Economics and Trade (86.63 points), Team 1 with the Capital University of Economics and Trade (86.17 points), Team 1 with the Chinese University of political Science and Law (86.2 points), Team 2 with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (85.83 points), and the Chinese University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) (83.73 points) won the New Achievment Award. Feng Cheng, a team member from the Central University of Finance and Economics, and Yan Dingpeng, a team member from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the most Valuable Player Award (MVP), Xu Pengwei, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and Sun Yu, a team member from the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, won the Best Stage Style Award.

The Competition brought together contestants from MBA centers nationwide, who analyzed and debated over social and economic hot issues as cases in a highly simulated manner. Through intense competition, it’s obvious that students would get improved in their critical analysis and decision-making ability; and it truly pays to further enhance case-based teaching in MBA education development and better serve the purpose of making study serve practical purpose. As the 7th National Management case Elite Competition 2019 (North China Division 2 Elimination) was successfully concluded, may the Teams standing out at this session, make it an even bigger success in the National Finals!
