Boyao Li is an associate professor of finance at the Business School of the China University of Political Science and Law. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Hunan University in 2011 and earned a PhD in economics from Beijing Normal University in 2017. His research areas include banking, monetary, and macrofinancial systems. His research emphasizes credit and money creation, the macroeconomic roles of banks, prudential regulations, balance sheet approaches, and macrofinancial modeling. He received a grant from The National Social Science Fund of China to study how shadow banking interacts with commercial banks’ creation of credit and money, and to analyze the macroeconomic effects of shadow banking. His research has been published in prestigious academic journals such as Metroeconomica, Economic Analysis and Policy, International Review of Financial Analysis, Economic Modelling, and Finance Research Letters.
